About Dr. Jeff Dories

Dr. Jeff Dories Assistant Professor of English University of Pittsburgh at Titusville

Dr. Jeff Dories is a father of two (Clare 9, Cole 7) and husband to Jessica Dories who lives in Indiana, Pennsylvania – the hometown of Jimmy Stewart and Edward Abbey. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, reading, listening to podcasts, traveling, playing fantasy football, and playing with the kids. Lately, he has been enjoying reading science fiction and Chinese fiction.

Dories is originally from Buffalo, NY and moved to Indiana, PA in 2004. He still enjoys rooting for the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and the Ohio State Buckeyes (O – H!). He married a native of Indiana, PA in 2006, Jessica Dories, who is a Director of International Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. They both enjoy meeting people from other cultures and reading about other cultures as well.

Dories focuses his work on studying non-western cultures, diversity and inclusion, British Romanticism, composition, Ecocriticism, and body image / eating disorders in literature. He has been at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville since September 2015. There he has served as Chair of the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Faculty Senate, created events on campus (International Coffee Hour, International Women’s Day, and the Trans Day of Remembrance), and served in numerous other capacities.
